ISIS Military Commander Arrested in Aleppo
The Syrian Ministry of Interior announced that “the Internal Security Forces and the General Intelligence Service, in cooperation with international partners, has arrested Hamza Abdullah Mohammed, known as “Abu Jihad al-Muhajir,” who is classified as one of the prominent military commanders of ISIS, in a carefully planned security operation carried out in the countryside of Manbij, Aleppo province.
The ministry said in a statement that the suspect served as the general military commander of ISIS’s “Sham Province.” He had previously served as deputy to the group’s former general military commander, known by the alias “al-Harthi,” and had earlier been responsible for the group’s so-called “Idlib Province,” operating under the same alias.
The ministry added that the operation is part of ongoing security efforts to pursue ISIS cells and senior commanders, dismantle its networks, and thwart attempts to reorganize its ranks and threaten the security of civilians and stability across the country.
