Trump reiterated that Iran cannot be allowed to possess a nuclear weapon and never will, noting that it would take Tehran a long time to develop one following the strikes carried out last summer against Iranian nuclear facilities.
He added: “Iran wants to reach an agreement, and we are there for one reason only: to prevent it from acquiring a nuclear weapon.”
Trump continued: “I am not seeking to extend the memorandum of understanding with Iran. We could declare the Strait of Hormuz American territory. That would be a great idea, and we have full control of the strait.”
He stressed that “the Strait of Hormuz is open, oil prices are falling and will continue to fall, while Iran is facing serious trouble,” warning that Tehran “could cause some problems in the strait, such as laying mines.”
