According to the Portuguese newspaper Jornal de Notícias, Ronaldo and Georgina signed their marriage contract on August 10, one day before the civil wedding ceremony, which was reportedly held in the Portuguese capital, Lisbon, in the presence of their children and four witnesses.
According to the circulated details, the couple opted for a “separation of property” regime, meaning that each party retains ownership of the assets, real estate, and investments they held before the marriage, without those assets automatically becoming the property of the other spouse.
The agreement is particularly significant given the size of Ronaldo’s fortune and the diversity of the investments and assets he has accumulated throughout a professional career spanning more than two decades, as well as Georgina Rodríguez’s own wealth and business ventures.
This type of agreement is designed to define both parties’ financial rights in advance and reduce the possibility of legal disputes over ownership or the division of assets in the event of a future separation. Under its provisions and the applicable laws, each party’s property remains separate.
The agreement also makes it possible to identify the assets owned by Ronaldo and Georgina before the marriage and determine their nature and value, providing a clear legal framework for managing their property and investments throughout their married life.
Prenuptial agreements are not uncommon among wealthy individuals and celebrities. They are generally used to regulate financial matters in advance and protect the economic interests of both parties, particularly when substantial investments, companies, real estate, and financial assets are involved.
In addition to the financial details, a copy of the marriage document published by Jornal de Notícias revealed some personal information about the couple.
The document showed that Cristiano Ronaldo, 41, is registered as having been born on the Portuguese island of Madeira. It also included his full name, the names of his parents, and other personal details.
As for Georgina Rodríguez, 32, the document stated that she was born in the Argentine capital, Buenos Aires.
The details also revealed that Georgina will keep her family name, “Rodríguez,” after the marriage rather than adopting Ronaldo’s surname.
