In a post on her Facebook account, Rima explained that she decided to clarify some details after many rumors and speculations about her brother’s death began to spread. She stressed that he did not need financial support from any side, and that his mother, Fairuz, and his sister had remained by his side throughout his life.
Rima also denied that Ziad had given up or lost his desire to live, saying that he loved life and was afraid of death. She explained that after he began feeling unwell, he was afraid of being alone, so he chose to live with his family after his last concert in Rahbeh. She also spoke about his faith, noting that he had regularly prayed the “Hail Mary” for around 15 years.
Regarding his death, Rima said that Ziad died as a result of what she described as “a medical mistake or negligence” by doctors he trusted and refused to see anyone else. She considered what happened to be “a very serious mistake.”
She also expressed her anger toward those she believes were responsible, saying that although she believes in the importance of forgiveness, she finds herself unable to forgive for the first time.
Rima did not name any doctor or medical institution, nor did she reveal details about the alleged mistake or negligence. She said she only wanted to correct the information being circulated without going into further details. At the end of her post, she shared a text by Sheikh Hussein Ahmad Shehadeh about Ziad, describing it as one of the most beautiful things she had read about him.
