Al-Eidan posted a photo of the card on Instagram, dated October 10, 1998, explaining that it had been written for their wedding anniversary, which fell on October 8.
She accompanied the photo with an emotional message in which she prayed for Al-Mufidi’s mercy and forgiveness, while also remembering other loved ones who had passed away. The post brought their relationship back into the spotlight many years after the Kuwaiti actor’s death.
Mai Al-Eidan married Ali Al-Mufidi in the mid-1990s, and their marriage lasted nearly 11 years before they mutually agreed to separate in 2006. The couple did not have children together.
Despite their divorce, Al-Eidan has repeatedly said that affection and mutual respect remained between them. She previously explained that they had married for love and that their separation never turned those feelings into hatred.
The resurfacing of the card drew particular attention because it marked the first time Al-Eidan had publicly shared the handwritten message, prompting followers to comment on the affection and respect she continued to show toward Al-Mufidi after his death.
Ali Al-Mufidi is regarded as one of the most prominent figures in Kuwaiti and Gulf entertainment, leaving a major mark on theater, television and radio. He became especially famous for playing “Qahta” in the iconic series “Darb Al-Zalaq.”
He was also known for his distinctive voice and successful radio career, in addition to lending his voice to several well-known animated productions.
Al-Mufidi died on October 28, 2008, at the age of 71 following health complications. His name has remained deeply rooted in Gulf entertainment history, while the card preserved by Mai Al-Eidan since 1998 has now brought a more personal chapter of their relationship back into the public eye.
