Songwriter Walid Al-Ghazali Arrested Over Alleged Drug Trafficking Charges in Egypt

According to investigations, security forces seized several packages containing crystal meth, including medium-sized and small bags, as well as cocaine packages allegedly prepared for distribution.

Authorities also reportedly found two precision scales, a knife, 4,000 Egyptian pounds, three mobile phones and a vehicle believed to have been used in transporting and distributing the substances.

Investigators stated that the suspects admitted possessing the drugs for the purpose of trafficking. The investigation indicated that the money was allegedly linked to the activity, while the scales were used for packaging and preparing the substances, and the phones for communication with customers.

Security sources said that Al-Ghazali’s arrest took place several days before the news became public, denying that it happened at the same time as the recent circulation of reports about the case.

The songwriter was referred to the Public Prosecution, which ordered his detention pending investigations. His detention was later renewed twice, while the seized substances were sent to forensic laboratories for examination.

Walid Al-Ghazali previously collaborated with several artists, including Saber Rebai, Khaled Selim and Eyad Ghanem. He also appeared as an actor in the 2013 series "Wesh El Kheir" alongside actor Mostafa Shaaban.
