Cagliari is gripped by serious concern after its French forward, Yael Trepy, was admitted to intensive care following a drowning accident in a swimming pool during a day off in Porto Cervo, in northern Sardinia.
According to Italian reports, the 20-year-old player got into difficulty after reaching the deepest part of the pool, before losing consciousness and receiving emergency assistance at the scene.
Following the emergency intervention, he was airlifted to Santissima Annunziata Hospital in Sassari, where he was admitted to the intensive care unit.
Medical examinations revealed a significant amount of fluid in his lungs, prompting doctors to place him in an induced coma and keep him under constant monitoring while awaiting developments in his condition over the coming hours.
Cagliari confirmed in an official statement that it remains in constant contact with the hospital and the player's family, asking that his privacy be respected at this stage and stating that it will announce any updates as soon as they become available.
Trepy had started for Cagliari just a few days earlier and is considered one of the club's most promising young talents after progressing through its youth ranks.
