Iraqi TikToker Naro Jailed Over “Inappropriate Content”

The ruling came after the Inappropriate Content Committee at the Iraqi Ministry of Interior took legal action against Naro. In a brief statement, the committee said the case had been referred to the proper judicial authorities before the court issued its 100-day prison sentence.

The case began several weeks before the ruling. On July 24, 2026, an informed source said the Karkh court had summoned Naro to complete the legal procedures over content considered offensive to public decency and morals, according to Shafaq News.

The official statement did not reveal which videos led to the case or provide further details. It only described the material as violating public decency and morals. Local reports said the ruling was part of the Iraqi authorities’ campaign against what they describe as “inappropriate content.”

In the first reaction from someone close to her, Naro’s friend and fellow content creator Tala Safwan expressed her shock and confusion following the ruling.

“I don’t know what to say. This is the first time I feel helpless and don’t know what to do,” she wrote on her account.

Safwan also urged her followers to stand with Naro during this difficult time, stressing that she needs their support more than ever.

The ruling sparked widespread reactions on social media. Some users expressed support for Naro, while others backed the legal measures taken against such content.
